Book 1 Page 1

The characters and the world from Swenyars Find were created when I was in fourth grade. Though the story line has changed the characters have not. My Manga is being taken from a novel that I started writing why I was in collage. Though I did write a few chapters why I was in High school the story just did not get that far. My freshmen year of collage I decided to start re writing the story again. I ditched the story line I did in high school and started over. During collage I was lucky enough to have one of the short stories that I wrote while I was in High school published. It is a children’s story about what a cat was thinking. The week that I wrote the story is the same week that Dr Suess past away. You might say his passing inspired me to write the The Fine Red Cat. My brother Fred did the art work for The Fine Red Cat.
Two things have inspired me to turn this book into Manga, my love of Japanese Anime and my brother. My brother Fred has a site called Mega Tokyo. He is such a great artist and I am proud of him. I have loved Anime since I was little. In 1978 Battle of the Planets (G force) was my favorite show on TV. I remember running home from school just to see it. As I grew up the only shows on TV that were from Japan were Robotech and Voltron. I loved both. It was my brother who started collecting tapes from friends in Japan. It was at this time that I had the opportunity to see Kimagure Orange Road, Marmalade Boy, Ranma ½, Fushigi Yugi, Rayearth, Saint Tail, Vampire Pincess, Kiki Delivery Service, Tatoro and Castle in the Sky. My brother and I used to sit in his room for hours watching anime.
I was at a loss of what to do when I graduated from collage so I went back to school. I was thinking about writing a graphic novel. Even then I was looking to turn it into a graphic novel. My love of Elf Quest inspired me. I left school after attending a Job fair I began working for a LTL transportation company.
In school I was a History major with a art Minor. I chose to be a history because I felt that under standing history would help me understand life and make me a better writer. The path that I have chosen in transportation and logistics is not my dream, however it does support my anime addiction. While this career has been a tough I have become stronger for it.
My novel has been a creative journey for me, Because I have changed so much over the years so has my Novel. I have rewritten parts of it several times. My friends in Ann Arbor motivated me to pick up my pencil again. It was my job and friends that breathed life into my creativity. It was two years ago that I began to draw again. It was my brothers Mega Tokyo that inspired me to pick up my dream of turning my book into a on-line graphic novel. I decided I would some how become a Manga Artist.
Through a new job I moved to a chemical city somewhere near the end of the earth. I won’t say were I live. I will say I think I could write a good space novel living hear. I feel like I live in the middle of nothing but industry, a chemical abyss. (a cultural black hole). OK, its not that bad. But it has taken me a year to settle in. My job is good, the people I work with are great. I really should not complain. I really am very lucky. But, I am a creature inspired by my surroundings. I have had great difficulty being creative living in this Chemical abyss. Through the support of my brother and friends and family I have not given up my dream.
In May I went Anime Central. I have to be honest the best part of Anime Central was meeting so many fans of Anime. The costumes were wonderful. I enjoyed showing my work. I loved my brother’s presentations. I enjoyed sitting in line with his fans. This is a memory that will stay with me for a very long time. Mega Tokyo fans are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope all you enjoy my story. It has grown with me. I would love to hear what you think. So please feel free to sign my guest book.
