Swenyar is face to face with her father. Will she be recognized? Not only does Swenyar want to keep the fact that she is Anders daughter quiet. She can’t let them know that she is a pirate and what her true reason for being there are.
This past week I went the River of Time in this small city called Bay City on the Saginaw River in MI. The event was celebrating history. There were reenactments and period costumes from many different eras and music. I have to say I really enjoyed it. While I was there I had the pleasure of listening to the bagpipe band called the Midland Highlanders. My husband, Mike, is a student member of the pipe band. I have always been a fan of Celtic folk music and bag pipes. (I still love J-Pop.)
The Scottish used the bagpipe against the English as a psychological weapon in times of war. In my studies I found that the Irish were the first to have bagpipe in what is now part of Great Briton. “The bagpipe was played in Ireland before it was brought to Scotland by the Irish regiments fighting the Scottish for the English. The Scottish added a second tenor drone and refined it into the global highland bagpipe instrument it is today.” (http://www.mistyislepb.com/pipesdia.html) They were used as far back as Alexander the Great in Greece. It is even said they been used in Egypt. If you get a chance please check out the Midland Highlanders web sight. They are a great group!
