Full Metal Alchemist is about two boys who lose there mom and in their grief they try through Alchemy to bring her back to life. “You must present some thing of Equal Value to gain something”. That is the principle of equivalent trade in Alchemy. In trying to revive their mother, Ed loses his leg in the exchange and his younger brother Al almost loses his life. in the last moment of the exchange the older brother Ed sacrifices his arm to put his brothers soul in a suit of armor. The boys pay for going against the order of things, Ed with the loss of his Arm and Leg and Al his body. They set out in search for the Philosophers stone with the hope that they be able to return each other to normal.
